The GTZ Health Sector Programme has commissioned an impact evaluation study of its Health interventions in Wajir District of North Eastern Province of Kenya.
A study conducted by Pathfinder International/APHIA II reveals that North Eastern Province, like any other part of Kenya, is at high risk of HIV infection.

The Gender and FGM coordinator of Wajir district organized two health workers trainings in Wajir in May 2007. 30 nurses and 30 community health workers from Wajir district hospital were trained in order to ensure that they are aware of the dangers of FGM and learn about their roles in abandoning the practice.
The German Development Cooperation and GTZ have been providing support to the Health care system in Wajir District since June 2006, reaching over 18,000 people in 6 months through a Consolidated Intergrated Reproductive Health outreach, attached is a summary of the services and number of clients reached over the 6 month period.
