The GBV sub-cluster was established by the UN and various developing & implementing partners to coordinate efforts towards eradicating and dealing with SGBV occasioned by the post election violence. GTZ Health Programme is a member of this sub-cluster.

FGM-Gender and Human Rights component in collaboration with MOH-DRH, UNHCR, Red Cross, UNFPA, Liverpool VCT, Nairobi Women’s Hospital, and World vision is organizing and conducting training in 7 districts in response to the escalating sexual violence occasioned by the post election violence.


Field Assessment of Post Election Violence Areas

GTZ representatives visited Western & Nyanza Provinces to assess the impact of the Post-Election Violence and evaluate the effectiveness of GTZ response. A Local Subsidy contract, supporting MTRH in training and clinical treatment of sexual & Gender Based Violence was also finalized between GTZ and the Moi Referral & Teaching Hospital-Eldoret.
