The German Technical Cooperation’s (GTZ) Reproductive Health and Policy components have in support of the Division of Reproductive (DRH) jointly developed terms of reference for a professional facilitator to lead a two-days retreat organised by the DRH to define a new organisational structure that clearly outlines the functions of Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation.
The GTZ’s Reproductive Health component plans to support the Division of Reproductive Health (DRH) in developing a Reproductive Health Communication Strategy by providing expertise in terms of a skilled consultant who will work closely with the DRH and other stakeholders in developing, validating and disseminating the strategy.
On July 26, the Division of Reproductive Health will be holding a stakeholders’ meeting regarding the introduction of a new method of family planning - Standard Days Method (SDM) - into Kenya’s family planning method mix. The SDM is currently being piloted in the North Eastern Province.
GTZ participated the above mentioned stakeholders’ meeting at which the draft manual on Community-Based Care for Mothers and Newborns was reviewed and discussed.
The German development Cooperation health programme has been supporting the Provincial and District health management Teams in Nyanza, Western and Eastern Provinces for the last one year under the Annual Operational Plan (AOP)Â III for Reproductive Health activities
The Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)Â component’s team of the GTZ Health Sector Programme is an active member of the inter-agency working group on integrating FGM in the school curriculum (see previous report).
